Analysts Weigh In On iPhone Sales Ahead of Conference Call

apple's quarterly earnings report q3 fy11 comes out next tuesday, july 19. always, analysts offering final predictions apple report -- particularly around iphone, has grown apple's biggest single source of revenue.

philip elmer-dewitt, writer of fortune's apple 2.0 blog, polled 42 analysts iphone sales predictions. group, included both amateur , professional analysts, predicted average of 17 million iphones sold in quarter. wall street analysts averaged 16.6 million, while amateurs predicted 17.8 million.

notably, andy zaky of bullish cross, 2nd closest analyst last quarter, estimates apple moved 17 million iphones in q3, precisely same average.

dewitt points out, average of estimates works out more 100% year-over-year growth , bring cumulative total of iphones sold more 125 million.
