Seeking Advice: AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme?

hello, new guy here. have questions airport express vs. airport extreme. in correct forum.

have airport express. live in large home (2,200 square feet, upstairs/downstairs). computer upstairs airport express plugged strip right desk. wire "clutter" there isn't bad .. have neatly organized.

unless i'm in office airport express is, wifi signal strength teetering between 1 , 2 bars (besides imac desktop, i'm using 1 device wifi - iphone). hoping have nice, strong, full signal throughout house maybe expectations little unrealistic. i'm never without wifi signal, i'm getting full signal strength when i'm next router.

idea is, upgrade airport extreme maybe i'll have better chance @ full signal strength throughout house .... ? spoke several people @ local apple store , told airport express more ideal smaller living space (a small, one-level apartment) , airport extreme work better large home. apple person claimed signal strength won't different airport extreme - lets more (more ports in back, etc).

looking advice on this. worth spend $80 airport extreme in hopes of consistent, full signal strength? or better off sticking airport express?

thanks!

an airport extreme naturally has better range , reliability, requires more power , has more antennas. if current router isn't doing you, airport extreme might right you.
