iphone3Gs..water...rice...dry..."no sim card" Now what??!

like many other unfortunate few, dropped iphone3gs in water. don't think i've ever been angry @ myself! learned rice treatment (had wait until got home work) , after 2 days condensation gone , had "connect itunes" logo on phone.

once connected (sim card installed) itunes starts restore phone. verifies , goes way through restoration process @ last moment message "there no sim card installed in device trying restore."

i've tried several times. phone in current state seems allow emergency calls only. powers down, recognizes power cord (chirps usual) leads me believe there's still gold in them thar hiills! darn thing won't recognize sim card.

any ideas make poor slob happy poor slob working iphone!

i'd start trying new (or different) sim card.
