iMac Slow Entering Sleep Mode

hi - bought first imac few months ago - upgraded i3 1 tb hdd , radeon hd 5670 graphics (mid-2010 model). loving far.

until few days ago went sleep mode within approximately 2 seconds (which totally amazed me coming dell pc vista). now, hanging while , takes twelve fifteen seconds enter sleep. i've done 2 things believe might have caused this:

1) (stupidly) fiddled canon i9900 inkjet driver on imac. tried print canon connected laptop windows pc, wirelessly imac. never imac recognize canon printer , gave up. can uninstall canon printer driver on imac , reinstall fresh copy? if so, how?

2) connected canon scanner (lide 50) usb port on imac. nothing seemed happen, no driver installed apparently, abandoned effort , unplugged canon scanner. perhaps after mac began entering sleep mode delay.

believe 1 of these actions causing imac hang bit before entering sleep. suggestions appreciated.

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
