Backing Up with Time Capsule

i want hard drive external drive. time capsule seems make simple. however, i'm worried going erase other stuff on external drive. time capsule that? on external drive intact , hd contents folder on external disk.
 

why erase anything?

if you're worried, or sake of organization, create separate partition tm.

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
