Poor Man's SSD - CF to PATA in a Pismo?

i picked pismo , i'm sort of falling in love thing despite having macbook run's circles around in terms of performance. design, ergonomics, keyboard, top notch.

1 thing i've noticed hard drive whiny, i'm guessing it's on it's way out possibly.

replacing hdd option used one's limited in life , new ones hard justify cost for. realizing don't need space i'll using idea of 16gb cf card boot drive seems tempting. adapter + decent speed cf card under $50.

done it? adapter did use? speed cf card? how did compare hard drive?

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
