Random horizontal lines and crashes after upgrade

i upgraded core duo imac snow leopard. worked great until moment when installed snow leopard. have random horizontal lines, crashes, , hangs. @ apple store hooked , did diagnostics. hardware operating according apple. have reset pram, reinstalled os 3 times, erased hard drive , did clean install, repaired disk permissions, repaired hd. work pretty in safe mode, tells me hardware issue. suggestions? i'm losing mind. , no, not covered under apple care. , no, don't have copy of leopard.

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
