Lion MBP '11 problems connecting to HDTV

i bought new mbp few weeks ago.

upgraded lion last week.

bought samsung le40d580 hdtv last week.

bought mini displayport hdmi adapter off ebay, , hdmi cable amazon.

i've tried connecting mbp tv, , doesn't seem recognise it.

if connect tv whilst tv off (in standby mode), mbp screen flashes blue second , recognise tv (there samsung window in system preferences > displays).

however, when turn tv on, screen on mbp flashes blue second again, , samsung window disappears display preferences , tv not recognised on mbp anymore.

in addition, mbp not recognised being connected tv, , screen says no device connected (i've made sure i've selected correct source input channel on tv - hdmi 1/2/3/4 etc).

have never tried whilst sl installed on mbp can't whether it's problem lion.


have no idea , bought tv predominantly connect mbp it. it's frustrating , wondering if of guys had ideas/suggestions?
 

i connect 2007 mbp sharp 42" tv exact way described , running lion. have gone system preferences/display/arrangement/mirror display? should have arrangement tab when plugged "external monitor/tv" if make sure mirror display check box clicked. helps

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
