What's the best option?

so here's position. have c2d macbook bought student (spring '08), , have got imac , ipad replace of everyday usage. imac runs snow leopard now, , plan upgrade lion. had intended upgrade macbook lion (it came leopard, , never bothered upgrade snow leopard). seems me have 3 options:

1) leave macbook on leopard, it's getting on bit , don't use anyway
2) buy upgrade snow leopard while disks still available, , upgrade lion next month
3) possible use disks came imac (came snow leopard on it) install snow leopard on macbook? upgrade lion.

there may possible other mechanism upgrade lion, seems not enough details available yet 4th option. people reckon should do?
 

i dont think 3 possible, disks tied machine supplied with

have read, can buy lion imac, copy file usb/dvd, use upgrade macbook lion, dont think need sl on it, long have 1 machine can purchase download ok

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
