3GS NVRAM problem

i'm trying friend bricked iphone 3gs. no clue did here's symptom:
- phone seems locked in dfu mode
- itunes brings error 21 while trying restore
- irecovery can connect, 'bgcolor' command works
- irecovery 'setenv' brings error 'nvram_save: no oldest bank saved, cannot continue'

i'm kind of stuck, phone :(

tried bring phone life?

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
