MAC BOOK wont recognize OLD HDD or NEW

so mac book idk stopped working, still turn on, wont recognize hard drive @ all. went , bought new hard drive , installed it. computer still wont recognize it. defintely compatiable macbook. have been reading forms , etc yesterday , today , have found nothing works. ive tried "formatting drive start disk" , other things. im not worried old data on computer, id nice, not necessary. everytime go turn on starts when gets "select destination" not there. , went utilities , disk utility , (the hard drive, 2 harddrives of kind , install disk) show on left hand side not letting me it. when click on it, comes "first aid, erase, partition, raiud, , resore" wont let me verify disk or of kind. please me!!! id grately appreciate it, let me know do!

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
