SMC reset after RAM upgrade??

is normal?? need reset smc after upgrading ram? on lion, , after upgrading 8 gb ram, started having sleep/wake issues not wake after opened lid. reset smc , seems fine.... hasn't happened again?

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
