Triple Portrait Monitor on an Early 2008 MacBook?

hello, after lurking years, have created account.

have 2008 2.4 ghz intel core duo macbook 2gb of ram , intel gma x3100 graphics card running osx 10.6.6.

want hook 3 23" widescreen monitors in portrait mode , have them seen computer 3 separate monitors opposed 1 large monitor. also, plan have laptop closed , put away , using wireless mouse/keyboard. use big excel spreadsheet , reading lots of pdfs. hence portrait see more easily.

potential issues:
hardware:
plan on using 3 usb dvi adapters going through ac powered usb multiport. work, @ times may sluggish other , cheaper :d option below.

becuase adapters expensive, thinking trying 1 4 hdmi splitter via mini-dvi port. becuase splitter, not sure if macbook see each monitor separately or mirror same thing on 3 monitors. think mirror - please let me know if assumption wrong.

ram:
have 2gb of ram , gets low - 100mb. thoughts on upping ram 4 or 8gb?

software:
rotating screen image , dealing resolution issues, planning on using switchresx4. have read when rotating image on screen, there can problems crispness of text. have experience this?

have been thinking little bit, possible have missed something. can think of pertaining potential issues outlined above?

i recommend not trying this. 1 usb monitor has poor enough performance, if tried 3 hub unusable. 1 mini dvi , 2 usb not work well. suggest either 1 large monitor or different computer.
