Lion GM: HD Applications folder - User Applications folder

hi all, i'm using lion gm clean install , ask question:

when open user folder see folder called applications, , it's empty. when click folder applications in finder favorites bar opens folder applications of macintosh hd.

why there 2 applications folders?

better place put apps? users/myuser/applications or macintosh hd/applications ?

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
