mac pro and projector. dvi works. mini display doesnt?

at school student sound/lighting technician. have mac pro has 2 mini display ports , dvi port. use video switcher has dvi in , out sends video our projector. today running slideshow our music camp have problem. our video switcher reason doesnt mini display port. when send dvi signal mac pro>mini display dvi adaptor>dvi cable>video switcher dont signal. when send mac pro dvi out>dvi cable> video switcher works. use dvi out our monitor trying use mini display our projector. also, used macbook pro send same signal, macbook pro>mini display dvi adaptor>dvi cable> video switcher , doesnt see signal.

basically, when use mini display dvi adaptor doesnt signal when use dvi out works. computers dont recognize projector when use mini display either. ideas.


edit: because need dual link adaptor.
