Operating system receive buffer

i wondering how go finding size of receive/transmit buffers operating system allocates serial communication. using usb serial adaptor mounts /dev/tty.usbserial. i've run issues os receive buffer gets overrun , crashes system. know how room have work or how buffer can increased.

it done in driver, not in os. driver using, , can set there. quick googling finds open-source driver might work.

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
