Quick questions: speed Mail app & caps lock + 1

hey everyone, got new mac (yay!) (its first one).
i'm using standard mail app (which like), , connected 2 email accounts: school & gmail. noticed when have incoming message loads rather 'slow'. in mail activity displays 5kb/s? normal? can speed or not machine? know small thing..

whats caps lock? use of different on windows?
not enabled: azerty&é"'(
enabled: azerty&é"'(
whats settings typing numbers? managed turn on (now doesnt seem work?). , typ '234567890' normally, '1' still '&'?

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
