hi all! ive quite been struggling decision i'm hoping find out there using mini i'd plan on using for.
design work. includes cs5. work on web files @ 50mb in conjunction dev software, itunes, browsers etc. print design , digital painting , i'm pretty working on ps , illustrator on files maybe 200 500mb.
i'm planning on running win7 on through bootcamp , not parallels (not totally sold either way).
baiscially think it's down 3 options. if i'm going mini, seems biggest bang buck stick stock 799 , hdd.
option 1 stock 799 mini , slap either momentus xt or scorpio 7200 drive in it.
option 2 same model buy 2010 mini additional sata cable , put ssd boot drive in speed basic tasks.
option 3 stock 21.5 imac. think in debate between mini server imac wins , i'll use existing 24" monitor main screen. expensive option.
im hoping see if happens use theirs same thing can tell me if mini choice, or if need buck , spend dollars imac.
in advance!
the mac mini have been ideal needs until print/digital painting work. feel documents require filespace require more ram mini (or imac) allows, or relatively large ssd able handle massive amount of paging/scratch space monster files require.
i've worked illustrator cs5 files vectors large 60"x60" @ 300dpi on 2010 i7 mbp w/ 8gb, , avoid doing kind of work again, since pretty rendered application useless on long periods of time (and depleted ~100gb of hard drive space @ times). doubt 2010 mini better job @ handing same task.
since installing os x lion i'm getting few shutdown issues. when attempt shut down or restart, i'm getting following error message: "you haven't been logged out because application mail failed quit. try logging out again, quit mail , choose apple menu > log out." i'm wondering if lion or mail issue? i've got plenty of ram (8gb) body else getting similar issue? ramjetworm said: ↑ since installing os x lion i'm getting few shutdown issues. when attempt shut down or restart, i'm getting following error message: "you haven't been logged out because application mail failed quit. try logging out again, quit mail , choose apple menu > log out." i'm wondering if lion or mail issue? i've got plenty of ram (8gb) body else getting similar issue? click expand... i...
i'm thinking of upgrading 2011 27" imac's ram stock 4gb 12gb. plan on installing , running windows 7 home premium (64-bit) through boot camp , parallels. what's max amount of ram can have installed in case? windows 7 recognize 12gb installed without problem? as long install 64-bit version of windows, can utilize of ram. 2011 imac can take 32gb (4x8gb) though 12gb should plenty.
