Changed my internal HD, now the fan is always on - why?

this happened previous 17" macbook pro. had switched out internal hd larger one, , fan ran often. now, have new 17" mb pro , switched 500gb shipped with, wd 1tb. fan never, came on, except when visiting odd sites video. put in 750gb wd scorpio 7200rpm drive morning, , fan on, loudly. have ideas on why different hds affect fan operation , can it? clues...
 

your fans on when mac on, spinning @ minimum of 2000 rpm (for mbps). spin faster needed keep temps @ safe level. if they're spinning without increased heat, try resetting smc. also, make sure don't block vents, located @ rear, near hinge.

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
