i need new laptop college , deciding between these two. know posting in mbp section though comparison thread, didn't know else post.
right now, have older macbookpro 17" (from 2008 or 2007 believe). have 1 2.33ghz core 2 duo processor 2gb of ram @ 667mhz ddr2. believe 160gb harddrive version.
laptop has become pretty slow , i've run out of harddrive space (though clean , running faster , more memory, haven't had chance). now, have 2010 imac 24" 3.06 ghz core 2 duo 8gb of ram @ 1067 mhz ddr3. computer has 1tb of harddrive space (and no near full on that).
but, college need replace older macbookpro , looking @ either the:
macbookpro 15"
2.0ghz quad core
8gb of ram @ 1333mhz ddr3
500gb serial ata drive @ 7200 rpm
or
new macbook air 13"
1.8ghz dual-core intel core i7
mb superdrive (for cds/dvds)
256gb model
know mbp more powerful, think larger processor , larger ram (plus more harddrive space) make huge difference college student? 17" mbp has been amazing, , assume slowing down bit because harddrive memory low , old computer i've had 3+ years.
thank input!
sam
i'm pretty in same boat you. i'm headed off university in fall , looking purchase laptop need to.
need assess needs. me, plan on gaming on laptop , unfortunately new 13'' mba won't cut me due lack of graphics card.
if plan on doing simple non-gpu intensive tasks, think new air perfect needs since portable , sporting impressive hardware.
