Replacing 2008 15" MacBook Pro

so 2008 15" macbook pro has bit dust (logic board). new 15" macbook pro aint gonna cut it, 1 incredibly annoying reason no pci express! hell uses sdxc?
i'm short on cash @ moment (been between work near 2 months, starting again in 2 weeks, need compy, going while before cash starts flowing). hoping year out of macbook, @ $1000aud repair aint worth fixing.

why need pci express?
i'm sound designer , event audio engineer , run firewire audio interface. run couple of firewire hard drives storage, need firewire speed writing/reading multiple 24bit 192khz aiff audio tracks.
problem having both audio interface , drives on 1 firewire card creates huge amount of pops , clicks , noise.
got around in past using additional firewire card in fantastic pci express card slot on 15".

else use compy for?
usual.. , bit of gaming (i ram graphics)

17"? has pci express.
17" laptop big , i'd really need keep under $2500

need laptop?
no, not. amazingly handy, need outside studio maybe once fortnight. when in studio use wireless keyboard, mouse , separate kick-ass monitor.

so... guys think?

i'm *shudders* *almost spews* considering pc (mac user since 1988)

i feel on pci express port. should upgrade in future, i'll buy 17in.

why don't see if can buy second-hand 08 macbook pro ebay, craigslist, etc?
