Anyone upgraded a 2006/07 Mac Pro with new processor?

i have 2.66x2 2006/07 mac pro. i'm looking @ upgrade chips, e5450 "harpertown" 3.0ghz chips ("slanq" series. there still available suppliers. has same pin setup (lga 771) , seems around right power usage etc.
i'm looking see if has done upgrade this, either chip or other versions. found 1 article @ anandtech.com hear other stories.

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
