How to update install Lion OS?

i not have external drive backup data right trying update os without deleting anything.
possible?
not own time capsule either.
 

yes, install lion. doesn't mess of files.

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
