MAC Office Upgrade 2008 -2011 woes

we bought office 2008 physical store promise of free upgrade 2011 (november 2010). installed 2008 using activation keys supplied, , later upgraded 2011 via download. no new keys given upgrade (presumably old keys valid since upgrade worked fine). got new mac , tried install software office 2011 dvd order @ upgrade time. 2008 activation keys not work. ideas on do.

(i have opened issue microsoft).
 

upgrade keys funny. don't have experience office, other software, key works if first install old version, run updater new version. it's worth try, since that's how made work first time around.
