Installing RAM on brand new MBP

hi all

new mbp being delivered tomorrow, , have purchased 2 x 4gb ram sticks put in upgrade 4gb 8gb.

question – can install before turn on macbook first time, i.e. straight out of box, or should power on , , running first?

 

either way fine.

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
