Getting a new Mac, how to transfer from old one?

well, have older mbp 17" (its @ least 3-4 years old), , i'm getting new mbp soon.

basically, want transfer applications (downloaded stuff skype, firefox, , photoshop application) pictures , itunes library (all of it...)

think mac guys @ apple store if make appointment, or there simple way (pictures/files should easy... drag , drop on shared network or flashdrive/external harddrive), feel have trouble applications (just download them again on new laptop maybe?) , feel may run trouble trying bring entire itunes library over.

suggestions!

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
