MBA11 vs MBP13 - my thoughts on the screen as a primary machine

i in local apple store on thursday , had chance side side comparison of mba11 , mbp13.

reason wanted comparison because thinking of buying mba11 replace 2010 umb , ipad. concerned 11.6" screen , high resolution not me.

used mba11 around 20 mins going websites such bbc news, macumors, groupon, anandtech , bloomberg. found text small in base case , had view every webpage zoomed in (after 1 press of zoom fine). used mbp13 around 10 minutes , resolution felt huge screen. although text larger , easier read had adjusted small mba11.

put both side side compare size of text. mba had 1 press of zoom , mbp , none. shocked find in setup text size in fact comparable. looking @ same website , text not tell difference. since mba has wider screen, when zoomed in filled empty space @ sides whilst not extending webpage out - meant had vertical scroll.

little surprised this. me there no compromise in web browsing webpages same size on both machines. obviously, mba had scroll little bit more text readable. pleased found use wide real estate.

mba launched iwork equivalent of ms word , excel , found zoom in no problem.

however, thats not complete picture. there programs text cannot altered easily. itunes perfect example text on left hand side small , when browsing music/apps text very small. think staring @ long time give me headache make eyes sore.

hope helps thinking of going mbp13 mba11. still in 2 minds , not convinced 11 inch screen cut primary machine. finally, dont need portability. travel mb once every 3-4 weeks , fine. lot of people keep 13" primary machine im not using ipad anymore , 13" mb feels big. mba replace ipad sofa surfing buddy , full fledged laptop. silly? have been hypnotised mba11 , im itching crackhead one?

it's silly think 135 ppi unreadable. wear glasses.

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
