What to buy

hi everybody. kinda generic question, involve ipad putting here. own 2 computers, 1 2-yr old dell laptop in great condition. other old dell desktop starting go , looking replace. question - budget $1500 replace computer. should quality laptop desktop replacement, or should quality desktop (tower have adequate monitor) plus ipad? not intense gaming, do video , photo editing. have wifi @ home , planning on getting iphone 5 when comes out (next week ;)). basically, not need graphics-intensive, high-powered computer, , laptop have more enough need, though sort of 2nd pc important @ point. in advance.
 

i go tower + ipad combo. best of worlds in scenario, can't complain that, can we?

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
