Mac mini or iMac?

i'm saving new computer, , trying decide between imac or mac mini. have hp 2310m 23" hd monitor, , logitech mx 518 mouse & sidewinder x4 keyboard.

so.. should mac mini? cheaper. , if mini, uprgades worth it? noticed have i7 option it's dual core. want remain below $1000.

help.
 

i go 2.5ghz mini, , leave @ that. add small ssd if wanted boost performance well. or alternatively 7200 rpm drive, offer improved performance , bunch of storage.

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
