Dual display full screen issue

i have macbook pro hooked tv.

want have vlc open on tv, in full screen, , still able use macbook, macbooks screen goes black when fullscreen vlc on tv.

can't way full screen supposed work surely?

can fixed?
 

vlc > preferences > video > uncheck "black screens in fullscreen mode"

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
