If you have a glitch--need to start w/ SL reinstall, or Lion clean install?

hi, all,

i've software question may pre-exist installation of lion. installation of lion, however, may have triggered problematic software. (i did upgrade.) need clean install of lion or start reinstalling sl?

(i did copy installer i'm getting invalid checksum error in disc utility, i'm going have figure out way download again. arrrrghh!)

thoughts can provide,
