are roles going reversed here....with $70b+ in cash apple big brother?
checks , balances coming from?
"this week apple reported had $76.2 billion in cash , marketable securities on hand. in october, steve jobs said of cash pile, "we believe 1 or more strategic opportunities may come along can take we're in unique position take advantage of because of our strong cash position."
note: i'm apple person since beginning - never have owned wintel machine, yet can't wonder how size/$$ continue change company culture/thinking.
self portrait of me in undergrad engineering school, 1 of "fun" electives, winter 1985 semester......b&w photography. had fun taking , processing this.....its scan of course.
1984 128k mac runing 1st macos on 400k floppy , that's macpaint on screen solid mechanics lab report.
not again.
checks , balances? worried about?
find term, "big brother" thrown around haphazardly , irresponsibly orwell must turning in grave. i'm not accusing of it, let's little more selective in use. apple isn't limiting personal freedoms or keeping under constant surveillance. there's no political oppression going on here. commercial jab @ ibm - uniformity, lack of innovation, tediousness of platform, lack of dynamism, etc. that's all.
having lot of cash on hand doesn't make "big brother." should think strength of apple's products , quality of ecosystem enough someone. market @ large. see "big brother" discourse on tech sites want cross between apple business model , competitors' business model. doesn't work that.
lot of cash on hand good. makes wealthy, independent, , provides security. point grow , control business. normal. apple controlling own destiny normal. don't have buy it.
nothing ominous this, long done legally above-board (unlike other tech companies.)
apple still run startup. that's counts.
great photo, way!
