hey guys. first post on macrumors discovered website , found helpful , informative. here's deal; purchased first macbook pro in august of 2008 when started college. love i'm wanting new one. it's older model (2008) guess it's outdated (i not extremely computer savvy.) there crack on frame around screen, it's dirty, has "burn" marks on bottom (not sure how got there) , battery brutal. i'm excited new lion software haven't purchase yet because might buying new laptop (likely weekend or bust.) want know 3 years despite problems? should suck , keep going have or new one? i'm not sure/specific of want other 15' macbook pro. use excel, word , itunes , internet , don't venture far out other that. thoughts?   if have money , can buy out right, go it. if don't save next gen since tech gets better. have 13" macbook older you...

amateur editor w/ fcp7 , adobe 5.5, looking wisest upgrades kick performance. got 4.1, 2,26 quad, 16gb, mid 2010. go 5770 card, wondering if there's other things should consider well. appreciate ideas.   if think might using premiere cs5.5 @ all, have cuda acceleration. so, second-hand (or hacked) gtx 285 or quadro 4000 best choices there. case this, order stock 5770 , swap out nvidia, if want take advantage of cuda acceleration. in fcp 7, graphics card doesn't matter much, although apple color tend perform best on ati gpus (better optimization , more output options). in scenario, again, 5770 fine choice. exception of plugins, fcp 7 never uses gpu, spending ton of money on faster 1 pointless. color , motion apps in suite matters , honestly, both perform on 5770. in fcp x, gpu acceleration based on opencl. here, 5870 graphics card option in theory better (twice processing power)....
