Time for a new MacBook Pro?

hey guys. first post on macrumors discovered website , found helpful , informative. here's deal; purchased first macbook pro in august of 2008 when started college. love i'm wanting new one. it's older model (2008) guess it's outdated (i not extremely computer savvy.) there crack on frame around screen, it's dirty, has "burn" marks on bottom (not sure how got there) , battery brutal. i'm excited new lion software haven't purchase yet because might buying new laptop (likely weekend or bust.) want know 3 years despite problems? should suck , keep going have or new one? i'm not sure/specific of want other 15' macbook pro. use excel, word , itunes , internet , don't venture far out other that.

thoughts?

 

if have money , can buy out right, go it.

if don't save next gen since tech gets better.

have 13" macbook older yours still going strong, after ssd upgrade. granted ssd worth equal or more macbook it's cheaper way performance jump,
