Hardware check

since upgrading lion 2009 imac has been going crazy. glitchy graphics, random freezes, etc. want run hardware checks on make sure ok way know put original install dvd in , boot up, etc. problem (might) have i'm on lion, , install dvd leopard. i'm asking is.. cause issues, or fine seeing won't using disk login os? :apple:
