Just cannot decide between 21.5" and 27"

first of all, apologies duplicating getting increasingly annoying regular forum-goers see please bear me.

i'm long-suffering pc user who's decided it's time change , buying imac. i've bored of noisy towers, messy cables, ugly monitors , atrocious operating systems.

have serious "keeping me awake @ night" issues in terms of choosing imac go for.

'general purpose' user, needs very.... general. 1 day i'll interested in games, next day i'll need surf few sites , check mail. next day might feel dabbing in bit of creative side. don't have digital camera , i'm not enthusiast - photography isn't hobby of mine - yet. plan on trying out sometime though.

note: i've seen both in apple store i've had impression of , feel - 5 minute test drive didn't feel definitive in making decision.

27" options looks stunning, i'm unsure if need horsepower. have large catalogue of pc games 6970m take advantage of. found native resolution of 27" bit overbearing though. desktop elements (icons, menus, text etc) quite small , using osx in general found bit of strain on eyes. there's lower resolutions hate reduced image clarity of non-native resolutions.

21.5" option much, easier on eyes. native resolution closer i'm used (1920x1200 @ home, 1680x1050 @ work). osx pleasure use on size since hand didn't have multiple sweeps of mouse/trackpad reach other side of screen. gaming performance of course lower since there's substantial difference in performance between 6770m , 6790m.

if decided wanted start photography hobby. resolution of 21.5" limit ability work in photoshop?

if went 1 or 2tb hdd , 256gbssd, how work when installing additional software? apps install default install ssd or choice of install software? i'd rather keep 'pc-like', osx , core apps on ssd , space-hogging software (games example) , data on hdd.

gaming won't priority. find casual games bejeweled 3 more entertaining leading titles these days. not sure if it's because i'm getting older or because don't have patience them longer. i'll no doubt urge dig out old or new favourite play , again though. hampering myself 6770m? diablo iii future mac/pc game i'm interested in rest no doubt multi-platform (can't think of many pc-exclusives on horizon i'm keen on) , have ps3 if interested. have copy of witcher 2 i'd love run on imac though, wouldn't opt 27" able this.

don't think cons of 27" outweigh pros buy 1 play few games, there other factors should consider make 27" overall better purchase 21.5"? (i'd go top spec 21.5" i7, 8gb ram , ssd, not baseline if helps).

reading.

buy....

1. if general purpose user great, because both general purpose machines

2. if found pixels per inch strain few minutes it's going hurt after few hours. many people find 130 ppi ish (i forget exactly) strain , you'll see lots of messages in here asking how whole system's font size, etc. many people struggle it.

3. resolution of 21.5 fine photoshop.

4. choice of install software can choose drive in system.

5. job gaming won't priority, these aren't gaming powerhouses. if you're happy taking resolution down in order keep framerates up, either of these ok. fine people, serious gamer elsewhere.

6. no other factors. sound general purpose user , these both general purpose machines. you've worked out res small on 27"
