just got 2011 macbook pro, planning on upgrading lion once it's released next month public consumption. have apple ssd in mb pro, , question performing secure erase of ssd before upgrading lion snow leopard. necessary? guys recommend doing secure erase opposed simple reformat before upgrading? harm in doing secure erase on apple ssd? in advance info.
depends ssd have. if has sandforce controller, not necessary. other controllers should benefit factory reset. far know can done pc. so, have disassemble ssd , put pc. can find needed tool in download sections of manufacturer.
edit: didn't read got apple ssd. not sure controller use. not think sandforce controller.

i'm thinking of upgrading 2011 27" imac's ram stock 4gb 12gb. plan on installing , running windows 7 home premium (64-bit) through boot camp , parallels. what's max amount of ram can have installed in case? windows 7 recognize 12gb installed without problem? as long install 64-bit version of windows, can utilize of ram. 2011 imac can take 32gb (4x8gb) though 12gb should plenty.
