FCPX Timeline Question

hey everybody, used use final cut studios 3 years ago recently, projects, imovie has gotten me along. content between 5-15 min of hd content web.

1 thing missed imovie open timeline there not need footage between 2 clips. empty space, whatever call it.

however, can't seem in fcpx. minute place clip in timeline, snaps right other one. true if have snapping turned off. thoughts?

that's because of magnetic timeline. i'm not sure how turn off. it's pretty nice feature though.

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
