Login Loop for Usual User Account
hello --
i'm new forum, i've been mac user years. first time i've ever had issue imac in 4 years have had it. i'm not sure set off, couple of days ago, itunes acting funny , freezing along not recognizing iphone when plugged in.
after restarting imac couple of times, computer started showing login screen, when set automatically login usual account. after typing in correct password, boot continue until see desktop, after couple of seconds, cycle login screen.
after messing around root directory , deleting plist files , launch files, tried re-installing osx no avail. created new root account, has lead me have access of files , make imac usable, still cannot login usual account.
love if there without having backup files , start scratch. i'd prefer save preferences , have access account again!
please please please me!

solution
hello friend, got same problem mac osx system after upgrade 'lion'. found solution worked me, here step of that:
• reboot mac, hold down command r chimes (or starts if have volume off)
• select "terminal" utilities menu
• type resetpassword , hit return
• select root , enter root password
• go apple menu > restart
• log in root using password created
• go in system preferences > users & groups
• create new administrator account using same exact short name , password old user account (same capitalization of short name important)
• when accept "the users folder contains folder same name home folder account"
• select "use existing folder" (and wait while if have lot of files
• log out or reboot , should see old user there, try logging in
