My 2011 MacBook Air goes back to Apple tomorrow.
i hate this...but unfortunately, it's not worth keeping.
don't me wrong. price right, backlight great. powerful enough machine. found many strikes.
- everytime go macbook pro "the big apple", , see how picture perfect screen compared air, can't feel apple took shortcut cannot excuse.
- watched 1080p stream other day , fan roared. caught me off guard, know shouldn't have, did. pro handles same stream without peep.
- takes abnormally long time come out of extended sleep. point of irritation.
- the lack of restore media in box bother me. does. because quite costs apple pennies include.
- for reason build quality isn't anywhere near 2010's build quality. not sure why there difference. 2011 creaked more 2010 ever did under same use.
- on pro, spotlight indexing might drop me down 4 hours. on air brought down 2.
have admit, felt great having on plane ride home last weekend. after having week don't see point in keeping lil guy. keep going big apple.
i'm going couple of video reviews - 1 air itself, 1 comparing air 13" macbook pro (the review wants see). it's going store, sadly.
point #1: thin screen vs. thicker screen. expect? thicker screen capable of providing more. yes, there's room improvement. knew getting in first place air (at least hope did before buying it). said, if you're talking slight issue bottom of screen being darker (the bottom 1cm, in vertical line, sort of gradient effect), feel pain.
point #2: that's odd fan went off on 1080p video. not it's farfetched either, rather it's odd had heat issues 1080p playback. mine not have issue.
point #3: talking about? can not wait 2 seconds exit sleep?
point #4: restore media matter? have built hard drive... uhhh... why care? have right there on hard drive. makes no difference whether it's on disc, on flash drive, or on hard drive.
point #5: mind playing tricks on you. 2011 model "creaks" more?
point #6: not sure you're getting @ here. bringing down 2 hours seems next impossible do. can manage blister away 2 hours of battery life if play starcraft 2 @ max brightness... don't know how you're managing spotlight @ i'd hope less 100% brightness when on battery life.
have fun pro. weren't in market ultraportable laptop in first place. because find reasons return indicate not in market ultraportable. thing can relate screen mentioning, depending on problems you're having (if it's quality difference, can't share sentiments, it's obvious air won't have equal quality @ moment... though desirable). suppose heat issues share in terms of distaste, see no heat issues things video playback (hd , whatnot), , productivity; these issues massive multitasking, or gaming (or of course encoding or heavy photoshopping).
