How do I delete old file versions? And how does versions work?

hi there,
i've tried find answer no avail.

versions awesome feature, i'm concerned hard drive space.

previous versions of things stored , more importantly, if want delete old versions never need, how do clear out disk space?

lets have document thats date wont ever need old versions of it. how delete old versions or how delete few of them?

know version files stored , there way tweak how versions works? eg. have delete old versions after time or something.

versions great, want inside incase need make such changes maximize hard disk space. mean if it's duplicating everything, chew space massively.

i don't know they're located , stored, far i'm concerned, documents don't take space @ really, @ least not point make significant difference on hard drive. that's me, don't know if or others work large documents.
