Ethernet "connected" with green light but no internet

-

for while saying "self assigned ip" i've got greenlit saying "connected" , whatnot.

still unable connect internet.

have set configure ipv4 using dhcp , i've been router's settings page trying doing manually. no luck.



thing i'm going need occasional access internet updates. able connect internet through macbook pro when shipped me? not sure if that's possible.
 

please provide more relevant information on how home network set up. how internet connection isp, starters.
