Incessant lagging while using VMWare Fusion [recent problem]

i've been using vmware fusion on mba 2010 13" since january without problem, been able run virtual machine side side pretty no performance impact on either system great. able emulate playstation 2 console within virtual machine @ quite playable speed. until now.

while running virtual machine whole system lags halt, right im typing , takes 2-6 seconds words appear on screen absolutely unusable. i'm stumped because haven't changed within windows whats on virtual machine made brand new installation. var know haven't changed version of vmware , i've been on 10.6.7 while without issues, plus restored system.

have idea of can check /fix/investigate further fix issue? should note "felt" sort of slower performance system might imagination. not mention, system behaving cpu being used @ 100% faster when i'm converting videos makes fan whirl loudly, not on right puzzles me issue is.

with issues this, first diagnostic step take open activity monitor, in utilities folder. tell what's running, , how cpu time being used. may uncover "stuck" application hogging cpu.
