partitioning questions

i have external hard drive partitioned 4 volumes. each volume has files. want add partition. i've tried partition 1 of volumes create 8 gb partition bootable lion dmg , i'm not sure if i'm doing correctly. when choose volume , click on + sign, splits 2 when try make new partition 8gb, gives me different reading , presents if there data in it. what's that?

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
