stop hard drive running at startup

i want stop secondary hard drive being mounted @ startup. have 256gb ssd + 1tb hdd, , in normal operation of mac don't need access hdd, need access when want watch film, things that.

want switch off point of view of noise, when hard drive on fans or idle spin can heard, becuase rest of mac virtually silent. unmount drive slight sound stops mac enters virtual silence, find quite magical :cool:

ideas welcome
 

will unmounting drive within osx turn off power drive , make silent, in it's current config? didn't think possible, how mount again then...reboot?

if it's possible, script unmounts drive @ startup, solution. (sure can make one)
