Installing SSD

just got ssd today don't have caddy yet.
i'd test out ssd though thinking pulling hard drive out , putting ssd in.

questions are:

if replace hard drive ssd , install osx, old hard drive osx screwed? (just in case want revert 750gb)

what's best way of doing this? plan install ssd , work off external drive until caddy arrives.. guess leads question three..

when said caddy arrives , reinstall 750gb hard drive, there anyway remove osx off drive , keep files or impossible?

suggestions or advice extremely appreciated. looking done tonight.

thanks!

btw ssd corsair force 120gb

in order:
1. no, why be? still has information, doesn't magically erase once out of computer.

2. i'd wait until caddy arrives, way if gets messed can still use computer. using hard drive externally work slow balls.

3. best way can think of doing moving files manually external hard drive, formatting 750gb , copying them back.
