Is the new Mac Mini worth the wait?

according buyer's guide on website, new mac mini upgraded time in late july-early august. we've been looking getting mac mini father (he's got 5+ year old ibook g4 used years in high school) due attractive cost of device, new upgrade mini going worth wait?

father's computing needs not extreme. browses web sports, politics, videos, , wwii content. don't think new thunderbolt port benefit him hugely, fancier processor might nice.

buy now, or wait upgrade?
 

either option big speed boost

when need it. keep in mind if 1 now, have 14 days return it. said, current minis, while due update, not bad means
