Lion - iCal - Reminder (Greyed out)

hi. did fresh copy of lion , using ical. notice menu file>new reminder greyed out. not give me reminder list on right side or allow me create reminder. can help? tried searching solution found nothing.

i should add using gmail account. have tried delete ical related system files in hopes reset no luck. reason ical allows me add events no reminders. checked gmail don't see might holding me creating reminders.

CoD on Mac is Stuck in fail windowed mode.
