Stacks a bit slow and stage lagged, same with folders in launchapad

before upgraded lion in snow leopard, application folder stack not smooth when first clicked come @ opened in stages , lagged up, having same effect in 10.7 folders in launchpad, know why these 'not smooth'?

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
