Ethernet works in one MBP, not the other (and Airport works just fine)

for reason, ethernet internet won't work. when plug in cord, network preferences it's connected , show ip address, no pages load due no connection server. unplug ethernet cord mbp, however, works right away via airport.

also, ethernet cord works fine mbp, connecting right away. don't think ethernet port broken necessarily, recognizes being plugged in , ip router distributing. however, it's not connecting correctly , don't understand.
